This is a pink vinyl LP pressing of Music for Torching by Billie Holiday. Following a period of recording with tightly arranged groups for Commodore and big bands for Decca, Billie Holiday signed her final long-term contract with Norman Granz. When Granz signed her in 1952, he sought to recapture the small-group magic of her early career. For these sessions, she was surrounded by a cast of jazz legends—including old friends from her 1930s dates like Ben Webster, Charlie Shavers, and Cozy Cole, as well as stars from Granz’s own roster such as Benny Carter, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and Jimmy Rowles.
