With this release, the band reached a new level of maturity, both personally and musically. While the band members were just 15 years old when they released their debut, they had reached the age of 20 by the time they recorded Neon Ballroom, having already toured the world’s biggest stages. Musically, Neon Ballroom ventures far beyond the trio's previous successes, Frogstomp and Freak Show. Songwriter Daniel Johns, grappling with the band’s sudden global fame, poured his experiences into a batch of deeply personal songs such as "Emotion Sickness," "Miss You Love," and "Ana’s Song (Open Fire)."
