The Real Ambassadors features Louis Armstrong’s first and only recorded collaborations with Dave Brubeck (who also served as co-composer and conductor), singer Carmen McRae, and the legendary vocal trio of Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. Originally a Broadway play written and composed by Brubeck and his wife, Iola, The Real Ambassadors project delivered a powerful political message condemning racism while showcasing some of the most iconic voices in jazz.
