This is a vinyl LP pressing of Slow Drag (Blue Note Tone Poet Series) by Donald Byrd. The American jazz composer and trumpeter originally released his album in December 1968, via Blue Note Records. Produced by Alfred Lion, the album was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliff, New Jersey. Donald Byrd’s 1967 album Slow Drag was one of the last pure hard bop records the trumpeter would make before his music began evolving towards fusion. Byrd flies high on this gratifying set featuring alto saxophonist Sonny Red, pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Walter Booker & drummer Billy Higgins.
