This is a vinyl LP pressing of Three Blind Mice by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, featuring a sextet widely regarded as one of the finest lineups in the group’s storied history, with Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, and bassist Jymie Merritt. First appearing during the band’s celebrated early-1960s run that began with Mosaic (1961), this formation initially attempted to record Three Blind Mice live at New York’s Village Gate in August 1961, though most of that material was ultimately rejected. The album was later successfully captured live on March 18, 1962, at the Renaissance Club in Hollywood, producing all the performances heard on Three Blind Mice, a standout document of Art Blakey’s legendary Jazz Messengers at their peak.
