This is a vinyl LP pressing of Waltz for Debby: The Village Vanguard Sessions by Bill Evans. Whether the Village Vanguard group could have topped or extended the achievements of June 1961 is a matter for empty conjecture only. Evans continued to make great music for almost two more decades, but he must have known deep down that the summit was behind him. Sadly, this is the final testimony of a group that would end with the sudden death of Scott LaFaro just days after these recordings were taped. Waltz for Debby remains one of those rare albums that allows the listener to discover something new with every listen.
